Course Overview
Production chefs often work in kitchens where large quantities of food are required, and on a tight schedule, such as in hospitals, care homes, schools, the Armed Forces or high street casual dining kitchens. If you are highly methodical, organised and have the energy and cooking skills required for this kind of environment, this apprenticeship is the perfect way to start your catering career.
Within your job, you will be working as part of a wider team of chefs and get a feel for working in this kind of environment. You will also gain vital professional skills such as working with a range of clients, effective communication and how to be compliant with current food hygiene and health and safety legislation.
During your apprenticeship, you will learn how to maintain excellent standards of personal, food and kitchen hygiene; ensure compliance to procedures and recipes; produce food meeting portion controls and budget restraints, and use a range of specialist kitchen equipment.
When you have your college lessons, you will attend lessons in our state-of-the-art kitchens at our Huddersfield Centre.

Core Skills Gained:
GCSE English and maths at grade 3 or above.
