Learning no longer has to take place in the classroom and at Kirklees College, we have a large range of home study courses to help you progress in your career, learn new skills or take part in some community learning with others. Our remote learning courses are designed for adults (19+) looking for flexible, modern learning to help shape their future, from CPD certified courses to community classes.
Continuous Professional Development
Free Online CPD Certified Courses
Our online courses let you auto-enrol so you can make an immediate start to learning new skills or refreshing existing expertise. The courses take around four hours to complete and you’ll receive a CPD certified certificate upon successful completion.
The courses cover a wide range of areas relevant to businesses such as Health & Safety at Work, Leadership and Understanding Equality and Diversity, to subjects like Alcohol Awareness, Mental Health Awareness and Personal Money Management.
Health & Social Care and Childcare
Free Courses Available
Discover the benefits of online learning with our free Health and Social Care or Childcare courses. With our online courses, you’re able to study in your own time and are perfect for learners who want to begin a new career in the industry, or those who want to broaden their existing knowledge.
The courses available include the Award in Counselling Concepts, Safeguarding and Prevent, Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care, Understanding Children and Young People’s Mental Health and many more.
To access the free courses available, you’ll need access to a computer as they cannot be completed with a tablet or mobile phone.
Business Courses

Our free Level 2 business courses are designed to help you discover how to implement business improvements and become an effective team player at work.
The courses will also help you understand and improve your knowledge in business administration and lean organisation management techniques. Our online courses are designed for flexible learning and also come with tutor support.

Looking to improve your digital skills? Kirklees College has two free online courses to help you adapt to online working and remote learning.
Digital Basics for Remote Learning
This course will help you to access and navigate online and remote learning using the Microsoft Teams application. You will get a 1 hour taught session, and access to a number of online resources to help develop your skills and learning.
Digital Skills for Remote Working
This course will help you stay in touch with your colleagues and customers by utilising the Microsoft Teams application for remote working. You will get five hours of taught delivery, broken down into one hour sessions, and access to a number of online resources to help develop your learning, skills and knowledge.
Adult Community Courses

Whatever your motivation is to learn, we have many community learning courses that you can enjoy both online or in an appropriate learning environment. With art courses, learning British Sign Language, cookery classes, life coaching and online yoga – there’s something for everyone. Some courses are free of charge and others are chargeable.

Want to improve your skills in Microsoft Office? We have Microsoft accredited courses in Excel, Outlook, Word and Powerpoint at just £75 each to help you feel confident with the latest software.
These flexible courses, which you can sign up for at any time during the year provide IT training for newcomers and IT professionals alike. The courses, which are self-paced and include blending learning, help you develop your individual differentiation, increase your personal confidence and demonstrate your improved performance in Microsoft applications.
