Kirklees College is reopening the doors to all its centres this November for its Open Days.

The events are taking place on Saturday 6 November from 10.30am – 12.30pm at all Huddersfield Centres (Huddersfield Centre, Brunel Construction Centre, Taylor Hill Animal Centre, Engineering Centre and Process Manufacturing Centre) and Wednesday 10 November from 5.30pm – 7.30pm at all Dewsbury Centres (Springfield Sixth Form Centre and Pioneer Higher Skills Centre).

As some of the first in-person events since the Covid-19 pandemic, the Open Days offer an opportunity for students and parents/carers to see what student life at Kirklees College has to offer, chat to tutors and tour the state-of-the-art facilities.

Kirklees College is uniquely vocational with an educational experience that goes beyond the classroom. The teaching and support staff aim to provide young people with the employability skills and industry experience needed to be able to kickstart their career.

We offer over 300 full-time courses and apprenticeships in a range of different subjects, from Animal Care and Esports to Engineering and Performing Arts, there is a course available for everyone.

Kirklees College is also one of the leading apprenticeship providers in the UK. Our students train in industry standard facilities, including a mock air cabin, training kitchen and restaurant and forensic science lab and are taught by experienced tutors from the industry to make students job-ready.

Kirklees College is also delivering T Levels from September to help take young people’s learning to the next level. The new qualification is split between 80% classroom time and 20% industry placement and is the equivalent to three A-levels so students can progress to either employment or higher education.

Speaking about her experience at Kirklees College, Grace Woodyet, Hairdressing student and Students’ Union President said:

“Being a student at Kirklees College has opened so many doors for me. Being involved with the Students’ Union has allowed me to make some amazing friends and has given me the opportunity to grow not only as a student but as a person.

Every member of staff I have spoken to has gone above and beyond to make sure my college experience is the best that it can be! I believe that Kirklees College creates a great environment for anyone to be able to be their best self.”
