Course Overview
The Level 5 HND in Space Technologies develops advanced knowledge of spacecraft systems, mission design and satellite communication technologies. The programme prepares you for specialist technical roles and further academic progression within the space engineering sector.
You will complete a range of modules including Further Mathematics, Professional Engineering Management, Research Project, Manufacturing Systems Engineering, Sensors and Automation, Space Communications and Space Mission Design.
You will integrate systems engineering, automation and communication technologies to design and evaluate complex space missions. The qualification supports progression to aerospace or space engineering degree top-up programmes and advanced technical careers.
You will study at our state-of-the-art Engineering Centre in Huddersfield, where you will have access to the best equipment in the sector, learn from experts, and get ample support during your time with us.

A minimum of 48 UCAS Tariff points from:
BTEC National (Diploma or Extended Diploma) in a relevant subject
Access to HE Diploma
T Levels, A Levels
Scottish Higher/Advanced Higher with at least one subject at Advanced Higher
Appropriate Level 3 qualification
Plus
GCSE English – Grade C/4 or above
GCSE Maths – Grade C/4 or above
*For mature applicants, some relevant industrial background may be taken in lieu of A Levels/BTECs
The qualification maps to the Space Engineering Technician Occupational Standard and supports progression to BEng (Hons) Space Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related degree pathways. It is quality-marked as a Higher Technical Qualification (HTQ).
This course costs £8,000. You can apply for a student loan through Student Finance England.
You will be assessed through a range of internal and external assignments.
