Course Overview

Groundworkers are an integral part of any site project, and are responsible for preparing sites ready for building works to take place. On this apprenticeship, you will enhance the skills you will be learning on the job with specialist training at our Brunel Construction Centre in Huddersfield.
You will also learn about site health and safety, teamwork and professional conduct. As a groundworker, you will be responsible for working with a range of trades on-site, as well as site supervisors, so it is important that you learn the skills of good project management too. This apprenticeship standard will develop your knowledge and understanding of building projects as a whole.
During your college hours, you will learn how to prepare surfaces and sub-surfaces for building works, including making roads and pathways, concreting, and drainage systems development.
Before you start your apprenticeship, you must have found a suitable employer. The college and your employer will then work together to complete the apprenticeship sign up process and organise your timetable.
