Course Overview

The course is taught by practical demonstrations, tasks and assignments. Designed to give students a broad understanding and appreciation of the floristry industry, learn how to produce designs and gain an understanding of floristry techniques and terminology as well as learning names of flowers and plants.
Sessions will be on Thursday evenings.
Areas of study include, how to identify, check and monitor the quality of incoming cut materials, and how to identify and maintain the condition of plants. You will also learn how to construct tied floristry designs, and plan, prepare and construct a range of floral designs for sale. This course will also provide an introduction to working in the floristry industry and introduction to function decoration using floral displays.

You will need a keen interest in floristry, a passion for flowers and be prepared to commit to 100% attendance.

The cost of this course is £700. Funding is available if you meet the eligibility requirements.

Assessments will be performed in class throughout the year and will lead to unit grades. You will take an online theory test, consisting of 15 questions on art and design for florists.
