Course Overview
Are you driven by performance, fascinated by the science behind elite athleticism, and ready to take your skills to the next level? This advanced two-year course is designed for students who want to pursue a career in elite sport performance, therapy or sport science.
In your second year you will undertake a research project, which will require you to investigate key topics in sport and physical activity to deepen your understanding and critical thinking. You will also cover: Biomechanics, Applied Exercise Physiology, Sports Nutrition, Athletes’ Lifestyle, Sport Injuries, Analysis of Sports Performance, Work Experience in Sport, and Applied Strength and Conditioning.
In your first year you will cover Anatomy & Physiology, Physiology of Fitness Exercise, Laboratory Experiment Methods, Exercise, Health and Lifestyle, Preparing for a Career in Sport & Physical Activity, Instructing Physical Activity and Exercis, Organising Sports Events, Fitness Testing for Sport & Exercise and Practical Team Sports. You will benefit from the specialist guidance of our industry-trained tutors and world-class facilities at our Huddersfield Centre.

Core Skills Gained:
A minimum of five GCSEs including English and maths at grade 4, and three other GCSEs including Science and PE.
You can progress to higher education or employment in the industry.
You can progress into roles in Sports Performance management, training and physical therapy.
You will be assessed through written and practical assignments.
