Course Overview
Currently there is a high demand for carpenters and joiners within the construction industry to help meet the skills need for the transition to modern methods of construction, heritage projects and sustainable building, so there has never been a better time to start this apprenticeship.
You will also learn about the wider construction trades so you can effectively liaise with bricklayers, plasterers, plumbers, supervisors, site management, architects, designers, customers and contractors.
You will learn how to make a range of building components from wood and associated materials. This apprenticeship occupation has two possible job roles: Advanced Site Carpenter and Advanced Architectural Joiners. Advanced Site Carpenters will work on irregular and complex structures, including roofs, and Advanced Architectural Joiners create complex building components by setting out, marking out and create assembled products requiring advanced skilled work including the full range of woodworking machines.
You will also be required to undertake thorough health and safety training to prepare you for working safely on site. Your college sessions will be delivered in our workshops at Brunel Construction Centre in Huddersfield.
