Course Overview

You will need to secure employment before starting this apprenticeship. When you are not at work, you will study at college to learn the theoretical side of personal training. This includes expanding your knowledge of physical training, nutrition and anatomy, physiology and kinesiology.
Another key aspect of personal training is being aware of current government guidance on health and wellbeing, as well as a good base knowledge of human biology. This will enable you to give your clients researched and safe advice on diet and exercise. You will also learn how to use a range of technologies used in personal training, such as pedometers, apps and heart rate monitors to support your clients and tailor their diet and exercise routines.
Throughout the apprenticeship, through both you’re on job learning and college lessons, you will gain the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to become a successful personal trainer. This includes learning how to build a client base through good marketing practices and reputation of developing personalised exercise programmes.
You will have lots of support from your employer and your college tutors throughout the apprenticeship programme, and you will have regular one-to-ones to support you through the programme and end-point assessment (EPA).
