Apprentice Receptionist and Administrative Assistant – Huddersfield Orthodontics

This fantastic opportunity to join our growing organisation is available for an individual who has good people skilled. You will join a friendly team and will have the opportunity to progress in your role as you gain competence.

Wage – £6.50 per hour, this may increase on-going subject to meeting the apprenticeship and work targets.
Duration – 15 months
Start date – To be agreed – Open to School/College/mature learners.

Monday to Friday – working times TBC – 34 hours per week – A flexible approach to work, which will include occasional evenings and working days at our other sites

Job Purpose

Ensure that the Reception desk is organised in an efficient manner and patients are looked after during their visit to the practice.
Reception
·         Answer the telephone in the prescribed manner
·         Welcome all patients arriving at the practice
·         Ensure that the appointment system is efficient and accurate
·         Collect and record patient payments
Administration and finance
·         Ensure that patient records are completed correctly before filing and storing them in an efficient, tidy and secure manner
·         Complete and return relevant forms for NHS and private schemes within a specified timescale
·         Encourage prompt payments and chase outstanding debts according to the practice policy
·         Liaise with dental laboratories, supply companies and other organisations as required
·         Send out patient recalls
·         Compile day sheets
·         Keep the office, reception area and waiting room clean and tidy
·         Organise stock supplies and control
·         Other duties as necessary for the efficient operation of the practice
·         Undergo training as may be required to develop your skills and abilities
·         Attend refresher and update training for medical emergencies and CPR
·         Work at other practice locations from time to time as required

As part of your contract of employment completion of the Apprenticeship Training Programme forms part of your duties as well as helping your personal and professional development; the requirements to complete the programme are as follows:

  • Attend and be punctual for all induction sessions, lessons and work-based training/support sessions
  • Complete all required assignments with by the required timeline
  • Build up your portfolio of evidence on-going
  • Access support from your tutor/assessor and your manager

Overview of Customer Service Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard.

The role of a customer service practitioner is to deliver high quality products and services to the customers of their organisation. Your core responsibility will be to provide a high-quality service to customers.

You will complete an End Point Assessment this will involve the following:

  • Showcase/portfolio
  • Interview
  • Practical observation
  • Professional discussion

Functional Skills: Level 1 and then Level 2 in maths and English, if required.

You are given time off, one day per week to study; you are required to attend Kirklees College, Huddersfield Centre, you will also attend other meetings via Teams to complete work for your apprenticeship. The study day is a Wednesday.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

There may be an opportunity of a Full-time job opportunity at the end of the apprenticeship, subject to satisfactory employment, and completion of the apprenticeship and if there is a role available.
