Course Overview

THIS COURSE MAY BE OFFERED TO RUN AGAIN AFTER EASTER. The new adult part-time prospectus for courses to be offered to run from April-June will be published in mid-March. If you wish to be added to the mailing list to be informed of publication, please e-mail info@kirkleescollege.ac.uk.
As well as this, you will be supported to create a CV, tailoring it to your previous experience working with children, and your skills to help you gain employment with children. After this course, you can progress to our Level 2 qualification. Sessions will take place at Huddersfield Centre – Tuesday, 6pm – 8pm OR Greenwood Library/Ravensthorpe – Tuesday 10am – 12pm.
This course is designed for anyone wishing to work in local schools and colleges, and perhaps support their own children at home too! It is a five-week course which will provide insight into working in schools, including topics such as: how children grow and learn, communication skills, safeguarding and health and safety.

We will look at Kirklees policies regarding supporting schools locally, and the impact of the pandemic on children. We will also consider career routes into schools and how best to support children (not everyone has the same skill sets).
