Course Overview
This course is an industry ready qualification. By completing this qualification, you will meet industry requirements to become a Gym Instructor, as set out within the CIMSPA professional standard. It is the first year of a two-year programme towards qualifying as a Level 3 personal trainer. This qualification must be achieved before moving on to study a Level 3 Personal Training qualification.
The course will cover anatomy and physiology for exercise and fitness instructors, how to provide a positive customer experience in the exercise environment, lifestyle management and health awareness, gym-based programme planning and preparation and programme delivery and professional instruction.
The course teaches the essential knowledge and skills required to instruct and evaluate one-to-one gym programmes to facilitate, educate and support clients in a gym or health club environment.
Alongside your studies, you will gain real life experience of gym operations by supporting the staff team running the Kirklees College Waterfront Gym.

Core Skills Gained:
A minimum of 5 GCSEs with the following grades: English at 4 or above and maths at 3 or above and 3 other GCSEs at 4 or above. Candidates need to have a basic understanding of how the human body functions and be experienced in the use of a gym for their own personal fitness.
Upon completion learners can progress onto the Level 3 Personal Training qualification.

You will be assessed through a portfolio of evidence, including a combination of practical, written assignments?and multiple-choice exam.
