Course Overview

On this course, you will cover topics that are relevant to the health industry to prepare you for a future career in adult nursing. Whilst on your two-year course, you will study the general regulation and processes in the health sector, such as managing information and data and working in the sector. For some of these modules, you will work alongside our T Level Science students.
This course will also cover how you care for adults, aged 18 to elderly people, in a variety of settings. This includes for patients all with different levels of dependency. You will also learn how to undertake a range of physiological measurements on patients to ensure you are providing a high level of care, as well at look at an individual’s overall care and wellbeing.
The course will also provide you with real-life practices to use in future roles by covering topics that are specific to health to support your future career. This includes focusing on understanding the healthcare sector, how to provide person-centred care so it can be used in everyday practice and infection prevention and control.
On the course, you will also undertake a minimum of 315 hours work in an industry placement. 100 hours will be undertaken in your first year of study, with the remaining 215+ hours completed in your second year of study. Your placement will be split to give you real experience in the health industry. You will be supported in finding your placement.

Core Skills Gained:

A grade 5 in English Maths or Science in addition to 4 Grade 4s. You must have English, maths and science as part of this combination, and one of these subjects must be at Grade 5. You will also need to have a DBS check.

If you have an EHCP then please be aware that the college needs to have agreed, via the consultation period with your local authority, that we can meet the needs outlined in your EHCP before you can start on a course with us.
On completion of this course, you can progress to higher education in the healthcare sector, an apprenticeship or employment.
