Course Overview

THIS COURSE MAY BE OFFERED TO RUN AGAIN IN JANUARY 2024. The new adult part-time prospectus for courses to start in January will be published in early December, both online via the college website and in printed version. If you wish to be added to the mailing list to be informed of publication, please e-mail info@kirkleescollege.ac.uk.

This course is designed for anyone wishing to work in local schools and colleges, and perhaps support their own children at home too! It is a five-week course which will provide insight into working in schools, including topics such as: how children grow and learn, communication skills, safeguarding and health and safety.
As well as this, you will be supported to create a CV, tailoring it to your previous experience working with children, and your skills to help you gain employment with children. After this course, you can progress to our Level 2 qualification. Sessions will take place at Huddersfield Centre – Tuesday, 6pm – 8pm OR Greenwood Library/Ravensthorpe – Tuesday 10am – 12pm.
We will look at Kirklees policies regarding supporting schools locally, and the impact of the pandemic on children. We will also consider career routes into schools and how best to support children (not everyone has the same skill sets).
