Kirklees College is honoured to be supporting Snowdogs Support Life, an extraordinary public art trail organised by The Kirkwood, never before seen in West Yorkshire.
The art trail will be made of large sculptures, based on the canine character from The Snowman™ and The Snowdog. Each sculpture will be sponsored by a business and individually designed by an artist from Kirklees and beyond.
Kirklees College will be sponsoring one of the Snowdogs on the trail and the sculpture will be installed outside the Huddersfield Centre.
The Kirkwood is teaming up with event experts Wild in Art, who have been delivering high profile events across the globe for over ten years, to put on an event our whole community will be proud of.
To begin the process of bringing this magical character to life, Kirklees College worked alongside The Kirkwood to host the Design Selection Event in our conferencing facilities at the Huddersfield Centre.
Kirklees College was proud to welcome guests from Locala, Kirklees Council, Camira, Reliance precision, TransPennine Express and many other employers that we are incredibly excited to be working with.
Guests were invited to pick their top three designs out of almost 100, submitted by artists from Kirklees and beyond, all whilst being served delicious canapes by our brilliant Catering and Hospitality students and staff.
Post-event, staff from The Kirkwood will collate the nominations, whittling down the designs to 30, which will then be hand-painted onto the Snowdogs.
One of the Snowdogs was brought to the Huddersfield Centre to show guests how a design might look when brought to life.
This Snowdog will remain with us at college for the next two weeks, so make sure if you come across the sculpture to take a picture of it and share on social media with the hashtag #KCSnowdog.
