Reliance Precision Limited is a specialist engineering company that has over 60 years’ experience in providing custom-built, highly reliable, precision instrumentation for a diverse range of global markets, including analytical science and medical devices, aerospace defence and space, and standard products.

Robert Farrell, Training School Team Leader at Reliance Precision Limited, said:

“We have been hiring and training apprentices for 60 years and we are accustomed to engaging with the apprenticeship training programme. We are a family-owned business and we are passionate about instilling our family values and promoting employee welfare to our apprentices. Although it can sometimes be challenging to recruit specialist engineers in the local area, working with Kirklees College has allowed us to recruit apprentices who can be trained and developed into the skilled workforce that is required for the future”.

Kirklees College aims to tailor its apprenticeship programmes to meet business’ needs. The dedicated teaching team mentor employers to help them understand the apprentice journey and hold regular meetings to resolve any problems. The Employer Engagement team can also support to deliver specialist units that cannot be delivered on-site.

The engineering industry is constantly evolving and whilst it is important for apprentices keep up-to-date with the latest developments, they can also bring new and fresh ideas to a company. Working with a local training provider allows businesses to champion home-grown talent and streamline their processes to reach business targets.

The apprenticeship programme allows employers to engage with local people and utilise the purpose-built Engineering Centre with state-of-the-art facilities to support apprentices’ progression.

Robert Farrell, Training School Team Leader at Reliance Precision Limited has the final word:

“I would definitely recommend Kirklees College as a training provider. We have reaped the benefits of training apprentices as they have learnt the specialist skills needed to produce high-quality and accurate work. The programme has allowed us to sustain our business and plan for future growth, both of which have only been possible through the apprenticeship scheme.”
