Kirklees College is proud to be supporting the Huddersfield Winter Festival this festive season.

The Kirklees College Christmas Kick Off performance has been written and directed by level 3 Performing Arts students and debuted to a live audience on Friday 3 December at 12pm and 2.30pm with further performances running on 10 and 17 December.

In the 30-minute performance, the Performing Arts students will be showcasing ‘The Missing Sock’ an original devised piece, ‘Christmas after Covid’ comedy sketch, singing and dancing to Christmas songs, as well as a fashion runway with Christmas jumpers.

The Music students sang songs and played the piano for the live audience and the Travel and Tourism students served hot drinks to the bystanders.

Lydia Murrãy, Performing Arts Lecturer and Work Placement Officer Emma Crosland at Kirklees College said:

“We are really pleased to be supporting the Huddersfield Winter Festival again this year. As part of the students work placement to support their course they have gained experience of working with employers, performing to a live audience, creating original work and working to an industry brief.

The festival has provided our learners with an immersive experience that has developed their skills in directing, making props and working to a schedule – all of which they will need in their careers in the creative sector.”
