Course Overview
This course will develop your teaching skills, reflect on current ideas about education and training and creatively explore the professional opportunities open to you. You will plan and design learning materials, assess students and evaluate learning and teaching and study professional issues in the sector.
You will also learn how to become a specialist teacher, which includes writing a paper and attending a two-day conference at the University of Huddersfield. You will also study policy and professional issues.

You must hold qualifications at a minimum of Level 3 (A Level or equivelant) in the subject area you teach.
Applicants must normally be in paid employment as a teacher or trainer, with a minimum of 100 hours, experience with at least 50 in any one year, in a recognised training or educational establishment. Voluntary teaching may be allowed in certain circumstances.
Trainee teachers upon completion of the course, can apply for Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) which for those teaching in schools and academies gives them parity with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
£7,170 for the two year course.

Careers in teaching are varied and rewarding. Once fully qualified you can teach students aged 14 upwards in secondary schools, the Further Education sector or Higher Education.
