Course Overview
Qualifications in Progression are a flexible and responsive range of general and pre-vocational qualifications devised with the aim to progress learners into further learning and/or employment. Each student will complete the programme alongside their Maths and English GCSEs. This course is a great option for anyone looking to gain a new qualification and get a fresh start after a long time out of education or employment.
You will also work on your understanding on people and relationships, including family relationships, developing confidence and self-awareness, and understanding stress and stress management techniques. You will also study alcohol awareness, healthy living and develop your personal learning skills.
Sessions will be taught by a range of subject specialists who can guide and support you throughout the course. You will cover a diverse range of topics, starting with a focus on society and sociology, including local history, understanding diversity in society, and young people and law and order. Your citizenship learning will also cover prejudice and discrimination.
This course also has a strong emphasis on skills for employment, and you will focus on your career planning, CV writing and job skills as part of the programme.

A minimum of three GCSEs with the following grades: English and maths at grade E/2 or above and 1 other GCSEs at grade E/2 or above. Applicants must be 19+.
If you have an EHCP then please be aware that the college needs to have agreed, via the consultation period with your local authority, that we can meet the needs outlined in your EHCP before you can start on a course with us.
Progression to Access HE Level 2
Access to HE Level 3 courses (dependent on achievement of GCSE English and/or maths)

Career pathways for those progressing onto Higher Education include Nursing, Midwifery, Operating Departmental Practice, Radiography, Clinical Sciences (Health Science Professions pathway), Social Practice, Criminology, Teaching, Law, Business, Probation, History, English (Social Sciences/Humanities pathways). For students not planning to progress to HE, this course equips students with range of employability skills and behaviours suitable for any workplace.
You will be assessed through a mix of written assignments, presentations and group work.
