The Creative Industries department at Kirklees College collaborated with Couture Living, an interior design company in Dewsbury, on an introductory fashion project.

The Level 3/4 Foundation Diploma Art, Design and Media Practice students at our Pioneer Higher Skills Centre had the opportunity to create fashion garments with fabric donated by Couture Living.

Couture Living have developed their company over the last thirty years, travelling the world collecting the finest fabrics from talented designers and celebrated studios.

Grace Clifford, Creative Industries Lecturer at Kirklees College said:

“This was a challenging task for the start of the year. The students worked collaboratively to translate drawings of their surrounding environment into garments. Having a range of high-quality fabrics to work with thanks to Couture Living enriched the potential of their ideas, resulting in some fantastic outcomes.”

Speaking about the partnership, Beth Barnes, Social Media Manager for Couture Living commented:

“Partnering up with our local college and supporting  up and coming student talent  is our way of giving back our years of experience and opening the door to our vast library of fabrics. It’s the least we can do for the creators of tomorrow.”
