Course Overview

Skills Bootcamps are free, flexible courses of up to 16 weeks, for people looking for a new role or job opportunity. You will be offered an interview with an employer once you complete your course.
Delivered within Kirklees College Construction Hub at Springfield Sixth Form Centre, you will have the opportunity to develop the theory will be introduced in the classroom environment and will be embedded throughout the underpinning knowledge of installing kerbs, drainage, laying paving slabs and concrete finish etc. The course will be delivered over four weeks. You will also complete a Level 1 Award in Progression.
The skills and knowledge will provide you with the core competencies to work in a groundwork role and a foundation from which to build a successful career. The course is also an excellent route for those looking to change career or undertake a craft or trade but who first want to get an overview of the industry before committing.

You may be eligible to apply for a Skills Bootcamp if you: are aged 19 or over, have the right to work in the UK, live in England, and meet residency requirements (we can check this). If you claim Universal Credit, you can apply and continue to claim benefits. Some Skills Bootcamps have additional eligibility criteria, including home postcode.

This course is free if you meet the eligibility criteria. Otherwise, fees are 10% for self-employed (£315), 30% if you are employed (£945).
