Course Overview
This qualification enables you, the learner, to demonstrate and recognise your skills, knowledge and understanding so you can work as a Plant Mechanic within the construction industry.You will be learning at our brand-new Plant Machinery site at Engineering Centre, learning in a real-world environment, on real state-of-the-art plant machinery equipment.
This course has been designed with employers to meet relevant industry standards. You will be assessed against a set of performance and knowledge statements which have been derived from National Occupational Standards for your occupational area.
This course is made up of 12 mandatory units, including operating plant or machinery for non-operational maintenance activities; diagnosing faults in plant or machinery; thermal cutting and joining materials; producing one-off components by bench fitting techniques; installing plant or machinery; configuring and handing over plant or machinery; planning and carrying out servicing to maintain plant or machinery, and advising on repair or replacement for plant or machinery.

You will need a grade 4/C in GCSE English and maths. You must have previous experience working in the Motor Vehicle industry to start this course.

This course costs £3,345 for learners aged 19+.
Assessment of learners’ knowledge and understanding will be undertaken through practical assignment and question-based activities undertaken in the training environment.
