As part of Colleges Week 2026, we are celebrating how Kirklees College equips its students with the education, training, and skills they need to succeed.
From young people starting out, to adults retraining, and apprentices learning in the workplace, colleges open doors and create opportunities.
At Kirklees College, our adult curriculum covers a variety of subject areas for people of all ages. This includes Business, Construction, Creative Industries, Engineering, ESOL, Hair and Beauty, Sport, Hospitality and Catering, Motor Vehicle, Teaching and more.
There are also opportunities to gain career-enhancing Level 2/GCSE English or maths qualifications. With entry-level courses available, students can start on the path towards gaining these vital qualifications, no matter their previous experience.
How do our adult students feel about Kirklees College?
Jacob, currently studying for a Level 4 Diploma in Hospitality Management, spoke about how the staff at the college have helped him progress and develop his skills: “My tutor Aaron has been exceptionally kind and supportive to me and has been able to help get me on the right track, and for that, I’m extremely thankful.”
After he finishes his current course, Jacob is looking for the best environment to start his career in the hospitality and catering industry.
Sana completed ESOL courses whilst studying a qualification in Beauty and was incredibly grateful for all the support she received at the college saying: “Not only were these courses helpful in my daily life. I now feel confident when applying for jobs and helping with my daughter’s education. I’m already looking forward to applying for more courses and continuing my education.”
Another ESOL student added: “The college is a nice place to learn, I really like the prayer room.”
Ali studied Level 1 Functional Skills English and added: “Support from my teachers meant I was able to develop my English skills. I have been able to use my knowledge from the course in my daily life.”
