Kirklees College has partnered with Brighouse-based company Avocet Hardware Limited on a Sector-Based Work Academy programme (SWAP).
Avocet Hardware Group have long been synonymous with supplying to the trade, high quality window and door hardware as well as the award-winning ABS range of high security cylinders.
The Sector-Based Work Academy is designed to meet employers immediate and future recruitment needs, as well as to recruit a skilled workforce with the right skills to sustain and grow their business.
Working with employer advisors at Job Centre Plus, the bespoke programme at our Process Manufacturing Centre has been tailored to support unemployed people get back into work in the supply chain and logistics sector.
The community day involved an induction where learners on the course met each other, toured the Process Manufacturing Centre, had an overview of what to expect from the programme and the college’s apprenticeships offer, as well as insight into what working in a supply chain environment is like.
The SWAP programme aims to support people back into work through boosting their employability skills with workshops on CV writing, applying and searching for a job, application forms, preparing and attending an interview and effective communication.
On completion of the course, learners on the programme are guaranteed a job interview and those successful at interview will not only get a job but will continue their education journey with an apprenticeship at Kirklees College.
