What you’ll do at work
The successful candidate will be given both formal and informal training in various elements of Purchasing-related work, ranging from simple business communications and data inputting to more complex tasks of data analysis and project work.
You will learn to organise and administer meetings within the Purchasing function and wider organisation, as well as gaining an understanding of how a global organisation operates. You will manage diary systems and learn how to prioritise your workload whilst understanding and adhering to company policies (Confidentiality, Health & Safety, copyright, security etc).
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
- Performing administrative tasks according to established guidelines and procedures so these activities are completed accurately and on time.
- Completing data analysis, using analytical problem-solving tools to draw conclusions and communicate meaningful patterns that drive business insights and assesses quality of data.
- Transcribing, typing, formatting and distributing a variety of material (e.g., correspondence, contracts, meeting minutes, reports and presentations) using word processing, presentation, graphics and spreadsheet software.
- Coordinating internal and external meetings. This may include scheduling meeting times, making travel arrangements for attendees, and ensuring that various meeting amenities are available.
- Arranging and hosting site visits of suppliers or colleagues.
- Any other reasonable duties which may be required by the company from time to time, as instructed by or under the direction of your immediate supervisor.
As part of your contract of employment completion of the Apprenticeship Training Programme forms part of your duties as well as helping your personal and professional development; the requirements to complete the programme are as follows:
- Attend and be punctual for all induction sessions
- Attend and be punctual for all lessons
- Complete all required assignments with by the required timeline
- Build up your portfolio of evidence on-going during your apprenticeship programme
- Access support from your tutor/assessor as and when required
- Access support from your manager with regards to any evidence requirements or support as and when required
- Attend all work-based training/support sessions
The above is not an exhaustive list of duties and you will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by the organisation which is relevant to your post within the company to meet the overall business objectives.

There is a possibility that you will gain a permanent position following successful employment as well as achievement of the full apprenticeship qualification.

Overview of the course
You will study at Kirklees college, following either the Customer Service Level 2 or the Business Administration Level 3 standard. The standard you follow will be dependent on experience.
