Course Overview

During this course you will learn the skills and knowledge that are needed to work as a professional dog groomer. Once you commit to this course you will also need to allow time for independent study in order to be successful. Areas of study will include, first aid for dogs and canine anatomy and physiology. You will develop your skills on styling different dogs, including trimming and finishing techniques.

This course takes place on a Tuesday 6.30 – 9.00pm starting 25 September.
You will learn how to plan your grooming work more effectively. Improving your knowledge on suitable techniques to handle and restrain dogs, including recognising and understanding different behaviour in dogs and also how to check the health and safety of dogs. This course also features units on customer service, communication and record keeping which is vital for any professional dog groomer.

You will need to demonstrate that you have relevant work experience of grooming and a keen interest in animals, or a Level 2 qualification in grooming. You will also need good basic numeracy and literacy.
This course could help you get a job as a senior dog groomer or manager of a dog grooming salon. You could also progress onto other Level 3 Animal Care qualifications, or to an Apprenticeship.

The cost of this course is £790
This can be paid via an instalment plan.

A written exam which covers the knowledge and understanding within the qualification and a practical assignment which covers health checks, first aid and grooming of dogs with different coat types and for different requirements.
