Therapeutic Counselling Diploma Level 4

This course is for people wishing to train to become professional counsellors. The course is accredited to the awarding body SEG and gives learners an opportunity to build on their knowledge, skills and understanding of Person Centred Theory gained at Level 3 and integrate into counselling practice.

Course Overview
It is a practitioner course combining academic and practice-based knowledge in order to prepare learners to work as qualified counsellors. The course works in line with BACP professional requirements and standards.

On successful completion of the course learners will be able to work towards individual accreditation with BACP.
A counselling placement is required to undertake 1-1 client work of 100 hours, this placement requires regular counselling supervision, a minimum of 1.5 hours per month to meet the course requirements. In addition to the course there is a requirement for each student to undergo personal therapy of a minimum of 6 hours.

An interview is essential and you must hold a Level 3 Counselling Skills qualification or equivalent, achieved within the last five years. You will also need to complete and submit a pre-interview task along with your application form, two relevant references (one academic and one linked to counselling practice).
If you have an EHCP then please be aware that the college needs to have agreed, via the consultation period with your local authority, that we can meet the needs outlined in your EHCP before you can start on a course with us.

On successful completion of the course learners will be able to progress onto a HND, University course or into the industry.
