This course will equip you with the understanding, skills and principles of a computer aided 2D drawing environment and develop your 2D AutoCAD skills. It is ideal if you have some experience in computing, particularly manufacturing or engineering design, and is suitable for learners who want to refresh their skills in order to progress in their career, or for a hobbyist who is interested in computer design software.
This course will teach you to safely use a CAD workstation by learning about hardware, managing files, software and more. You’ll discover how to use key components in 2D CAD software (AutoCAD) such as layers, lines, menus and create various line types and shapes that are relative to a coordinate system. You’ll use hatch, text, simple dimensioning commands, modify existing CAD drawings and create standard 2D drawing layouts.

No formal qualifications are necessary for this course, but an understanding of CAD and a related career or interest is helpful.
Upon successful completion of this course you may to progress to the Level 3 Award in 2D CAD
This qualification will help you in a variety of CAD Technician job roles.

You will be assessed through a combination of assignments and an externally set examination.
