Course Overview
This Level 1 course is the ideal choice if you are new to the industry and have little or no experience of barbering. The qualification provides the necessary skills and knowledge that prove occupational competence as a barbering assistant.
The optional section of this qualification allows you to learn how to assist with salon reception duties and also assist with shaving services.
This course has both mandatory and optional units for you to achieve. The mandatory units are shampoo and conditioning hair, preparing for hair services and maintaining the work area, contributing to effective working relationships and blow-drying hair.
You will gain transferable service industry skills and have the opportunity to work in our salons which will give you experience in a realistic commercial environment.

Core Skills Gained:
There are no formal entry requirements. If you do not have a GCSE grade 4 in maths and English, then you will study for these at college.
If you have an EHCP then please be aware that the college needs to have agreed, via the consultation period with your local authority, that we can meet the needs outlined in your EHCP before you can start on a course with us.

You will be assessed through observations or practical ability, treatment plans, written assignments, external tests, online learning and completion of a portfolio of work.
