Course Overview
The course offers a variety of different learning opportunities that allows students to develop their personal skills, confidence and self-esteem to prpare them for their next steps. The programme supports students to identify their strengths and areas for development. It supports learners to increase their independence and employability skills.
Students will learn to identify tasks and routines for independent living, understand the use of money in making household purchases and identify from a range of activities to participate in.
Students will learn to make healthy choices relating to food and activities, learn how to stay safe at home, in college, in the local community and online, as well as how to make more sustainable choices.

The course will help you to follow a routine schedule with some support, make decisions on and make purchases within a budget, decide about activities to participate in and be able to access these with some support.
Students will learn to make decisions and plan healthy choices relating to food, hygiene and exercise, ask for help or advice in situations where they are unsure, respect boundaries and expectations of different types of relationships including friendships, family and professional, both face-to-face or online. Students will be encouraged to participate in appropriate sustainable/environment orientated practice and communicate appropriately in different contexts.

There are no formal entry requirements but young people will be asked to attend an interview for staff and prospective students to find out more about the programme and whether it will meet their needs.

Students will have the opportunity to build a portfolio of evidence to meet their targets on the course. You will be assessed through participation in individual and group activities through a variety of different methods that meet your needs, as well as observations of practical activities.
