Course Overview
This course is ideal if you want to work with animals in the pet service sector. You will develop your knowledge and understanding of different roles and responsibilities, as well as ensuring the welfare of animals by meeting legal requirements of the pet service industry. You will also develop skills in animal husbandry and welfare.
You will work with the Work Placement team who will help you source a work placement as part of your course. You will be assessed on your practical ability, as well as completion of written assessments.
You will study professional practice in pet service businesses, business management, customer service, animal welfare and retail and merchandising. You will also take part in an industry-based research project.
You will also have an opportunity to attend trips as residentials to zoos, pet superstores and wildlife parks.

Core Skills Gained:
A minimum of 5 GCSEs with the following grades: English at 4 or above and maths at 3 or above and 3 other GCSEs at 4 or above.

You can progress to further study either on another level 3 land-based qualification, including Animal Management or the level 4 Higher National Certificate in Animal Management. You can also progress to employment in the pet services sector or related animal care roles.

You will be assessed through written assignments, exams, presentations and practical work.
