Course Overview
Personal Skills offers a learning programme where each student will work towards personal targets. These targets may include the development of numeracy and literacy skills.
Students will learn how to identify routines for independent living, understand the use of money in making household purchases and identify suitable activities to participate in.
Students will learn how to make healthy choices relating to food and activities, how to stay safe at home, in college, in the local community and online, how to make more sustainable choices and understanding different ways to communicate in different environments

The course will help students to follow a routine schedule, make purchases within a budget and choose activities to participate in. Students will make healthy choices relating to food, hygiene and exercise. Students will learn to ask for help in situations where they are unsure. Students are encouraged to respect boundaries and expectations of different types of relationships. Students will participate in sustainable/environment orientated practice and communicate in different contexts.

There are no formal entry requirements. You will take part in an interview to see if the course is right for you and to see if you have any additional support needs.

The course offers in-programme progression over one to three years
This course is designed for students on an independent living pathway. Students will be supported through the programme to make a successful transition into independent living.
Students will have the opportunity to build a portfolio of evidence to meet their targets on the course. You will be assessed through participation in individual and group activities through a variety of different methods that meet your needs, as well as observations of practical activities.
