The Xplorer Programme is designed for students leaving school who need to take some time out of full-time study to focus on their English and maths, employability skills and personal development.

Course Overview
The programme delivers a personalised, inclusive and safe learning environment where you will find your learning challenging, enjoyable and thought-provoking. A strong focus on personal goals and how to overcome barriers to learning will be embedded in all aspects of the course.
You will work independently and as part of a team on a variety of social enterprise and charity activities to develop yourself in readiness for life and work. This will include participating in college and community events, using a kitchen space to budget and prepare meals and running a small business.
Students on Xplorer will have underpinning careers guidance to support future career progression decisions. You will also learn about where to access different sources of help and support, identify your own strengths, skills, qualities and interpersonal skills and how these can be transferred into jobs or further education.

Core Skills Gained:
You will take part in an interview with the course tutor to see if the course is right for you. Students usually require GCSE English and/or maths grade 4 or above.
If you have an EHCP then please be aware that the college needs to have agreed, via the consultation period with your local authority, that we can meet the needs outlined in your EHCP before you can start on a course with us.

After this course, you can progress onto a Level 2 or 3 full-time course at college of your choosing, apply for an apprenticeship, or go straight into the world of work.

You will be assessed through your portfolio work, completion of compulsory work-related activity and placement and exams in English and maths where applicable.
