Course Overview

The performing arts industry is a large and complex business, this course will give you the foundations needed to navigate the industry, create practical work and reflect on your practices.
This course emphasises the learning and development of practical performance skills through technique classes and is performance based,including performing in at least two major productions each year. The topics covered include acting for camera, clowning, physical theatre, stand-up comedy, classical theatre and many more.
This course will enable you to be in multiple performances, create your own work from stimuli and follow briefs written to achieve criteria. You will receive feedback on practical workshops and theory sessions that you take part in. You will gain a number of skills valuable in the area of performing arts such as public speaking, presenting, movement, vocal skills and acting.
Our industry trained professional tutors have many years of experience within the industry. They are still creating work professionally in varying mediums to ensure they know exactly how the industry develops year after year. They will support and guide you to progress on your creative journey using their relevant and up-to-date knowledge.

Core Skills Gained:

A minimum of 5 GCSEs with the following grades: English at 4 or above and maths at 3 or above and 3 other GCSEs at 4 or above.

If you have an EHCP then please be aware that the college needs to have agreed, via the consultation period with your local authority, that we can meet the needs outlined in your EHCP before you can start on a course with us.

Employment in theatre or dance companies, stage management, arts administration, directing, writing, producing, choreography or many other roles in the creative industries.

You will be assessed through public performances (e.g. plays and dance showcases), internal assessments (e.g. audition and technique workshops) and research and evaluation written assignments.
