Course Overview
This course will allow you to explore your resilience, leadership and physical fitness whilst developing your confidence, communication and organisational skills through a combination of practical and theory-based learning.
On this course, you will undertake a number of expeditions, where you will be required to plan and navigate routes across open country, interpreting route cards and putting survival skills into practice.
The course is designed to assist you in the next steps of your career by allowing you to explore different careers within the uniformed services. You will devise an action plan and start working towards meeting the intended entry requirements for your chosen career route.
Your problem-solving skills will be tested in a number of command task whereby you will be challenged to apply effective solutions to complex technical problems.

Core Skills Gained:
A minimum of 5 GCSEs with the following grades: English and maths, one of which must be at a grade 4 or above and one at grade 3 or above, and 3 other GCSEs at grade 3 or above OR a relevant level 2 qualification with a pass grade and GCSE English and maths, one of which must be at a grade 4 or above and one at grade 3 or above, or equivalent.

Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Uniformed Protective Services (Emergency / Military Strands) or employment.
Employment in the uniformed services, including in the military and emergency services
You will be assessed through a portfolio of evidence, including a combination of practical observations, written reports, professional discussions and presentations.
Students will be required to have a Kirklees College UPS uniform to participate on this course. This can be purchased from gbkits.co.uk.
