Course Overview
Supply chain practitioners will work in one or more supply chain functions. They will forecast and plan customer demand, liaise with suppliers around production schedules, process orders and work with haulers and distributors in areas of transport planning.
On this apprenticeship, you will also develop in-depth knowledge on the laws, policies and procedures that influence the supply chain. You will also learn about the IT systems used for supply chains, including business planning software. You will also learn continuous improvement management, problem solving and principles of buying such as risk, cost, laws, ethics and customer needs.
Areas of study on this apprenticeship will include how to measure performance in a supply chain such as stock levels, accuracy of forecasts, customer service, on shelf availability of products and levels of waste. You will also learn how to forecast customer demand, considering factors such as weather, market trends, seasonality and competitor activity.
Supply chain practitioners also must develop behaviours including pride in work, ensure safe working, be responsive to change and be a highly effective communicator.

GCSE English and maths grade 4 or above and a suitable employer.

Purchasing Assistant, Logistics Controller, Team Leader, Supply Chain Operator/Manager, Shipping Department, Dispatch, Production Manager, Operations Management
You will be assessed by your assessor using a portfolio of evidence, practical demonstrations and assignments. You will be assessed in your place of work.
To start your apprenticeship you must have secured employment that the college has agreed is suitable for a minimum of 30 hours a week.
