Uniform Information

As a student at Brunel Construction Centre, you will need to purchase a pair of steel toe cap boots before you start your college course. These can be bought through any trusted supplier, for example Screwfix, B&Q, DEWALT, Site, Dunlop etc, and start at about £25.

As an Engineering student, you will be provided with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at the start of your course but any further PPE needed will have a cost attached. We also ask for a small contribution from students for trips and visits. You should also purchase a scientific calculator and writing equipment (pens, pencil and notebook) before you start your course.

As a Fabrication and Welding student, you will be provided with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at the start of your course but any further PPE needed will have a cost attached. We also ask for a small contribution from students for trips and visits. You should also purchase a scientific calculator and writing equipment (pens, pencil and notebook) before you start your course.

At the start of the year, you will be given a Kit and Uniform form to order the equipment and uniform specific to your course from our suppliers Florence Roby. Financial support for these is available and more information will be given to you at the start of your course.

All Barbering and Media Makeup students are also expected to wear all black and a closed toe shoe.

As a Hospitality and Catering student, professional conduct is always essential. This includes wearing a uniform and using professional equipment which you can purchase from our suppliers, Russums. The approximate cost is £175 for uniform and £50 for equipment, but these will be covered by your bursary if you are eligible.

Go to students.russums-shop.co.uk for more details, but you will receive more information when you enrol at college.

As a Motor Vehicle student, you will be expected to portray the standards found within the industry. As such you will be required to purchase overalls and boots. These are readily available in most places, though WSS Supplies are aware of the specifics and are reasonably priced (boots circa £20 and overalls circa £20).

Any other PPE required for the completion of the course will be covered by the college. In addition, we may ask for small contributions towards some of the enrichment activities planned for the duration of the course.

You will be required to purchase a Sport/Fitness kit for your practical lessons and community delivery. The kit bundle includes tracksuit bottoms, shorts, t-shirt and 3/4 zip jumper and is available to purchase on our kit supplier’s website – GB Kits.

You will receive more information when you enrol on how to order and financial support available.

We also ask all students to pay a £40 course contribution. This contribution enables us to deliver a catalogue of activities for you to participate in and enhance your personal development. It is only because we receive this additional contribution that we can provide such a varied and exciting programme. Financial support is also available for this contribution.

You will need to purchase a black skirt or trousers, black blazer, white shirt and black shoes as part of your uniform. You can order these yourself from any retailer. You will also need to purchase a scarf, tie and badge through the college when you start your course in September. Your tutors will provide more details on this when you start and financial support is available.

On Uniformed Protective Services (UPS) courses, you are required to wear a uniform and look professional to instil industry etiquette in you. As part of your course, it is expected that you purchase and wear the Kirklees College UPS uniform.
