Please ensure that you read and agree to the terms and conditions as contained in this document before submitting your application.
The submission of your application is deemed as acceptance of the terms and conditions as found in this agreement.
All claims for support are on an individual basis and take account of the student’s financial status.
Support for travel allowances will only be paid to students who live at least 1 mile from their college site or have mobility/other difficulties
If you are applying for support with a monthly bus pass (only applicable for students aged 16-18), please ensure that you have your Metro Under 19 Photo Card with you when submitting your application. Please see the following link for further information - Metro - Under 19 Photocard
Financial Support depends on your attendance and behaviour, which will be monitored throughout the year. If your attendance falls below the college minimum standard, then your support may be stopped and reviewed with involvement from your tutor and/or progress coach, and any agreed funds may alter and reflect your attendance/behaviour.
Support offered is entirely at the college’s discretion, and completing the financial support application does not guarantee support.
Support offered is dependent upon on remaining funds.
If you have any placement days as part of your course and you need support for those days, please complete a “Placement Days Form” (on the College Financial Support web page or from the Financial Support Office) and submit it to
Support for additional days (e.g. placement or additional classes) can only be awarded by the Financial Support Team.
Failure to attend or complete your programme of study may mean you have to repay a proportion of support received, for kits etc.
If you previously received support but withdrew from your Kirklees College course, you may not be offered further support if you are now on a new course.
If your financial circumstances change, we will take this into consideration and reassess in relation to your financial support application. However, we may not always be able to reassess your travel award to accommodate a geographical location change unless there are exceptional circumstances.
Payments are made into bank accounts, it is the students’ responsibility to provide details of a valid bank account in their name for funds to be paid.
If you have applied for an Advanced Learner Loan through Student Finance England (SFE), we can only provide support once your Advance Learner Loan has been approved.
You agree to use the funds for the purpose for which they have been awarded.
All communications detailing your Bursary/Financial Support award (i.e. the result of your application) will be sent to your college email account (which is your enrolment number followed by @kirkleescollege.ac.uk), e.g. 1234567@kirkleescollege.ac.uk. Please ask the LRC staff how to access your college email account if you have any difficulty.
You must enclose the required documents as requested on the Bursary/Financial Support application; otherwise, your application may be delayed.
