A taste of Kirklees College on offer
Tuesday 10th of August 2010
Kirklees College is looking forward to celebrating the Huddersfield Food and Drink Festival's 10th birthday as official education partner this week. The college will be hosting a stall at the event, which will take place in St George?s Square, from Thursday 12 to Sunday 15 August.
Kirklees College will be hosting a stall at the Festival this year. Catering and hospitality tutors and colleagues will be offering samples and selling a variety of produce, made by the students and staff in the college’s professional kitchens. A selection of chutneys and marmalades, including aubergine pickle; a range of chocolates; and sweet delights, including tiffin and flap jacks, will be available to those visiting the stall.
The face of the college for this year’s festival is popular staff member Cynthia Matheson, who is one of the college’s catering tutors. Cynthia appears on the range of food labels and she represents the kind of friendly face potential students can expect to find in the catering department at Kirklees College.
Kevin Scholey, hospitality subject sector leader said:
"We're delighted to be involved in the Food and Drink Festival again this year. It's a major event for the area and a wonderful thing to be part of. Being the festival's official Education Partner means we can play a key role in the community, something we are always keen to do. We’ve got lots of things on offer, all made by our staff and students. We look forward to offering a taste of Kirklees College to Festival goers and can discuss any ideas they may have about taking a catering course with us."
Information about catering and hospitality, and the other courses offered at the college will also be available at the stand. For more information about Kirklees College and the Food and Drink Festival, go to: www.huddersfield-htcpl.co.uk/foodanddrinkfestival/contents/kirklees_college.htm
