Course Overview
*Please note: We can only accept applications from individuals who have already completed Year 11 (or equivalent), as this course begins before September 2026. If you have not yet finished Year 11, please apply for September 2026 entry instead.
On this apprenticeship, you will gain the knowledge and skills needed to efficiently operate and control IT and telecommunications infrastructure. You will be trained to interpret technical specifications, apply security policies and use infrastructure management tools to automate the provisioning and monitoring of IT systems and services. This includes understanding virtual hardware, software, network services, data storage, and cloud computing.
On this apprenticeship, you will gain the knowledge and skills needed to efficiently operate and control IT and telecommunications infrastructure. You will be trained to interpret technical specifications, apply security policies and use infrastructure management tools to automate the provisioning and monitoring of IT systems and services. This includes understanding virtual hardware, software, network services, data storage, and cloud computing.
Additionally, you will gain proficiency in resolving hardware and software faults, both remotely and in-person. You will focus on maximising productivity and user experience by monitoring and maintaining systems and platforms.
You will be equipped to contribute to the preparation of new or changed services, maintain regulatory and professional standards and monitor system performance in relation to business needs, security and sustainability. You will develop the ability to provide technical support to both internal and external customers. You will learn to diagnose IT problems, troubleshoot routine and non-routine issues and use various communication channels to assist stakeholders.
This apprenticeship will help you prepare for a range of specialist roles in the IT sector. You will be equipped to work in various organisations, large or small, across different sectors, including public, private, and voluntary organisations. The training will cover networking, server management, IT essentials, secure communications, programming and databases, among other essential tasks and projects.

Core Skills Gained:
GCSE grade 4 or above in GCSE English, maths and an IT qualification or relevant experience.
