Course Overview

The programme gives you practical experience of the traditional and contemporary techniques required to be a practitioner in today’s art and design market.

Providing you with a higher level of contextual awareness of ceramic and contemporary applied arts, you will learn a wide range of practical in-demand skills in ceramic and craft discipline such as construction techniques / throwing / glazing / screen printing.
As the course develops, you will develop a portfolio of work which will culminate in an end of year exhibition giving you the opportunity to showcase your work in a professional setting to members of the public and industry professionals.
There is a strong emphasis on the development of both individual creative practice and an understanding of professional and commercially-focused skills as you develop you understanding of contemporary craft industry.
You will have your own dedicated studio space to freely express ideas and concepts and undertake on the spot critical reviews of ideas, works and assessment. The course also comprises of practical workshops and demonstrations, lectures, guest lecturers, competitions, national and international visits and gallery visits.

BTEC Extended Diploma or Foundation Diploma at MPP or 64 UCAS points and GCSE English and maths grade 4 (C) or above, plus a portfolio of your art work.
Following the 3D Design HNC you can progress onto the HND course or into industry.
