Budding bakers are invited to take part in our Young Chef competition!

We are hosting our fourth annual Young Chef Competition; open to anyone in years 9-11 from schools in Kirklees, Calderdale and surrounding areas.

The competition aims to find aspiring young chefs, give them guidance and encouragement in their chosen career and allow them to showcase their culinary skills.

Entrants will be tasked with creating a spectacular dessert to wow the judges.

Entries will be judged on taste, appearance, originality, seasonality, cost, use of local produce, working practices and cleanliness.

Last year’s winner Salendine Nook High School pupil Rachael Rushworth created a pear and ginger torte with a salted caramel sauce.

Up to 24 students will be selected to compete in the heats in April and May and the top four in each heat will go through to the final on June 20.

To take part, you must be aged between 14 and 16 on 31 August 2017.
