This qualification will enable you to develop personal and social skills as well as basic practical skills.
During the year you will study 2 mandatory units:
- Developing self
- This unit will introduce you to ways in which you can reflect on your own personal development and how your personal skills, abilities and behaviours can be improved.
- Preparation for work
- In this unit you are encouraged to look at your own skills and qualities in relation to those needed at work and to use this understanding to identify key personal information needed for an application.
You will also study 13 of 56 optional units, including:
- Hand care
- Create an image using colour for the hair and beauty sector
- Skin care
- Shampoo and conditioning
- Hair plaiting
No formal entry requirements.
You will have an interview with the course staff to make sure that the course is right for you. You should be able to demonstrate an interest or knowledge of Hairdressing or Beauty Therapy and wish to progress in this area.
Your practical skills in providing treatments will be assessed in commercial Hairdressing and Beauty salons.
You will also need to submit a portfolio of the work you complete during the course as evidence.
