ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages)

ESOL is a course for those who do not have English as a first language and wish to improve their English language skills. Kirklees College offers ESOL courses from beginner level to level 2. Our courses are practical and will help you gain the language skills you need for everyday life and at work. You will also work towards nationally recognised ESOL qualifications.

Entry Requirements

Once registered you will be given a date to come back to have an initial assessment of your English (reading, writing, speaking and understanding).

After that, you will go onto a waiting list prior to starting the course properly.  Please be aware that we have many, many people wanting to do the ESOL course and therefore the waiting list is long – you may not be able to start the course fully for 2-3 months.

Fees & Funding

The government funding for ESOL is complex and some learners will have to pay for classes or provide evidence of their status and benefits for free classes.
