Overview

This course will give you the training you need to become both a diagnostic and practising beauty therapist. You will work through the course flexibly and at your own pace.

You will be based in a purpose-built learning environment, which is run as a commercial salon with clients you will eventually be offering treatments to.

You will cover subjects, including:

  • eyelash and brow treatments,
  • basic facials,
  • health and safety,
  • manicure,
  • pedicure,
  • promoting products and services,
  • waxing,
  • reception,
  • contribute to the development of effective working relationships,
  • make-up


You will benefit from work placements with professional establishments.

You will be entering into an industry where image and appearance are important. Represent your industry well and you will win the confidence of the client at first sight. There are professional standards of dress and appearance which must be followed so you will be required to wear college salon uniform.

Entry Requirements

No formal qualifications are required.

To join: You will need to attend a part-time enrolment session at the site you wish to study at. Dates and times are as follows:

  • Wednesday 28th August (any time from 12:00-19:00)
  • Thursday 29th August (any time from 17:00-19:00)
  • Friday 30th August (any time from 10:00-13:00)

Please make sure to bring with you some photo ID, proof of address and, depending on your circumstances, either proof of benefits (something dated within the last three months) and/or a method of payment. You are not expected to pay for the course in full upon enrolling – you can arrange to pay in monthly instalments to be completed by the end of the course in June.

Work opportunities include salon employment, retails sales within the cosmetics industry, health farms, cruise liners, fitness centres, etc. In addition, you may consider further training in specialist areas, such as aromatherapy or nail technology.
