Barbering Apprenticeship Level 3

If you are interested in styling hair for men and boys at an advanced level, then this Apprenticeship is for you.

Overview

With men taking as much care in their appearances as women these days, there is more demand for skilled barbers.

  • Competence based qualification - level 3,
  • English - level 2,
  • maths - level 2,
  • Employee rights and responsibilities,
  • Personal learning and thinking skills.

If you are interested in styling the hair of men and boys, this Apprenticeship is for you. You will learn to:

advise and consult,
shampoo and condition hair,
cut using basic barbering techniques,
cut facial hair to a shape,
dry and finish men's hair.

Entry Requirements

You must have an employer who will support you through your Apprenticeship and allow you time off work to attend college. Many people find their own job or are already employed but if not, college staff can help you find employment.

Advanced Apprenticeship (level 3)

  • An appropriate level 2 Apprenticeship, or
  • GCSE grade A*-C in English language,
  • experience of working in a hairdressing role,
  • good communication skills, and
  • you should demonstrate an interest or knowledge of working in the vocational area and wish to take up a career in a relevant industry.

Assessment Methods

At college and in the workplace. You may need to take exams.

Progression

You will be able to go on to employment or find a higher education course in hairdressing or styling.

You will be able to go on to find a career in barbering or hair styling.
