Course Overview

The apprenticeship will aim to give you the knowledge and skills to become a successful construction equipment maintenance technician and help you achieve a qualification that will enable you to start on the path to an exciting career in an evolving industry.

As an apprentice technician, you will carry out important tasks such as installing, removing, upgrading, modifying, and adapting equipment.
With the increasing use of advanced electronic systems, hybrid technology, and cleaner equipment, you will start learning how to adapt to new and developing technologies linked to low and zero-carbon machinery.
You will work with a wide range of construction equipment, including complex fixed machinery and mobile plant. You will need to understand electronic control systems as well as the mechanical and chemical processes involved.
Your role is important in keeping construction and related equipment working safely and efficiently. You will be able to have a direct impact on the delivery of infrastructure projects and housing developments.

Core Skills Gained:

An appropriate Level 2 qualification, and a minimum of grade 4 in GCSE English and maths.

To start your apprenticeship you must have secured employment that the college has agreed is suitable.

Practical assessments, Online knowledge assessments, written knowledge assessments.
An apprentice will typically spend 36 months on-programme working towards the apprenticeship standard.
The EPA takes place at the end of the apprentice’s learning and development, after the apprentice has met the EPA Gateway requirements.
