Course Overview
The apprenticeship standard consists of the following qualifications:
Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training
Level 2 Safeguarding, Prevent and British Values
You must have achieve maths and English at a Grade C/4 and bring evidence of this to your End Point Assessment

The learning and skills tutor is a ‘dual professional’; having first achieved competence in a vocational subject specialism and then subsequently trained as a teacher.
The learning and skills tutor is pivotal to the success of traineeship and apprenticeship programmes, in delivery effective vocational evaluation and training that meets both the learners’ and employers’ needs.

The apprentice must have an employer to support them through the apprenticeship. The employer will need to allow time away from the job role to complete the course work. The apprentice will need to demonstrate that they have had 20% off the job study time. They will require a minimum of 100 hours of teaching (ages 14+).

The course is ideal for existing members of staff who hold relevant vocational qualifications eg technicians who are wanting to progress into teaching.

Core Skills Gained:
You should have a Level 3 qualification in the subject you intend to teach or evidence of substantial experience. You’ll need access to 100 hours of teaching practice in a recognised lifelong learning location (14+).
For those trainee teachers who do not already hold a degree, this is an opportunity to progress onto a degree course.
The cost of the apprenticeship is £10,000 and your organisation can draw down funding through the levy.
