Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you’ll do at work
Reporting into the factory foreman, your main duties will include, but not be limited to:
- Following Engineering drawings and instructions
- Shaping and cutting out sections, using hand tools and CNC Press Brakes
- Finishing items with grinders and polishers
- Assembling bespoke sections using riveting, welding, and bolting methods
- To prepare surface finishes to the required standard
- To record changes required to drawings to enable production information to be corrected and maintained accurately
- To help manufacture panels in stainless steel
- Understanding of engineering drawings
- Able to safely use associated machines and tools (e.g. guillotines, rollers and drills)
- To maintain a high standard and quality of work
- Ensure safe working practices at all time
- Responsible for good housekeeping in your own work area
- Competent in the safe use of power and hand tools
