What will the apprentice be doing?

In this varied role, your typical responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • Dealing with day to day enquiries
  • Providing administrative support to the team.
  • Monitoring order progress and keeping customers fully informed on any problems/delays.
  • Using the appropriate streams of communication with Production and Logistics to fulfil customer requests.
  • Observing truck and container loading, including accurate completion of necessary documentation
  • Ensuring the accuracy of data stored on our CRM system – Including (but not limited to) Customer cards, Shipping Agent Services, Customer categories, Customer contacts.
  • Attending industry exhibitions and events as required.
  • Reviewing customer accounts for growth
  • Researching for new opportunities.
  • Promoting company products and upsell maximising the effectiveness of marketing promotions, informing customers and processing promotional orders accurately.
  • Consultative selling: gain secure and sustainable business using product application knowledge and understanding of customer needs; carry out site surveys and recommend solutions to customers, adding value to their business by rationalising inventory and demonstrating reduction in total cost of ownership for their operations.
  • Strive to achieve sales targets; keep accurate and timely records in the CRM; build and maintain sales pipelines.
  • Submit monthly sales forecasts, sales pipeline and expenses to deadline.
  • Keep abreast of competitor product portfolios and other industry news.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Business Administration Level 3 Apprenticeship

The responsibilities of the role are to support and engage with different parts of the organisation and interact with internal or external customers. With a focus on adding value, the role of business administrator contributes to the efficiency of an organisation, through support of functional areas, working across teams and resolving issues as requested. The flexibility and responsiveness required allows the apprentice to develop a wide range of skills.

The business administrator is expected to deliver their responsibilities efficiently and with integrity – showing a positive attitude. The role involves demonstrating strong communication skills (both written and verbal) and adopting a proactive approach to developing skills.

The business administrator is also expected to show initiative, managing priorities and own time, problem-solving skills, decision-making and the potential for people management responsibilities through mentoring or coaching others.

You will cover the necessary Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours, gather evidence and attend workshop/taught classes throughout the duration then complete an End Point Assessment.

The End Point Assessment involves a Portfolio Development, Professional Observation and Professional Discussion/Interview.

You will be given paid time off for study to achieve your apprenticeship.

The Apprenticeship programme to be undertaken will be dependent upon previous experience. If you do not meet the requirements for the Level 3, please still apply as we can offer the Customer Service Level 2 Practitioner with a view to progression, after completion on to the Business Administration Level 3.

The Apprenticeship Training Programme forms part of your duties as well as helping your personal and professional development, the requirements to complete the programme are as follows:

  • Attend and be punctual for all induction sessions and be punctual for all lessons
  • Complete all required assignments
  • Build up your portfolio of evidence
  • Access support from your tutor / assessor and manager as and when required.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

There is a strong possibility that you will gain a permanent position following successful employment as well as achievement of the full apprenticeship qualification.

There may also be further apprenticeship other training available following successful employment and achievement of the apprenticeship qualifications.
